The Filipino Executive Council of Greater Philadelphia (FECGP) and the Asian American Women's Coalition (AAWC), in collaboration with Drexel University and Filipino Intercultural Society of Drexel University (FISDU), are hosting the exhibition of Singgalot (The Ties That Bind): Filipinos in America, from Colonial Subjects to Citizens in November 2010. Designed by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) in Washington, D.C., Singgalot is an exhibit which details the rich history of Filipinos in America, honoring early immigrant pioneers and the determined generations who came after them. It celebrates Filipino Americans as they share their struggles, challenges, and achievements with the rest of the nation.
It is our goal to use this exhibit to: a) highlight multiculturalism, b) utilize it as a vehicle to educate the community, c) make Filipino Americans proud of their heritage, and d) strengthen the ties between Asians and non-Asians as well as the various Asian American communities and Drexel University.
Singgalot will be available for public viewing at Drexel University from November 19, 2010 till January 15, 2011. An opening program will be held on November 19, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. with an estimated audience of 300-500 attendees. The program will highlight a nostalgic Filipiniana experience culminated by native songs and dances, and a taste of Philippine culinary delights.

We are honored to have two certified experts in the field of diversity training co-facilitate our event:
